I think the bicycles that club riders use on our rides meet the definition of Low Speed Electric Bicycle.
The max 20 mph speed refers to while under power, so riding faster than 20 mph downhill is not a limitation.
Although it is not stated in the law, the location where we operate is a factor in our favor. Essentially, e-bikes taken on a recreational bike ride that is on open public roads for a long-distance route represent the same risks as a normal recreational road bike.
These bicycles enable persons to continue to engage in health promoting exercise, whom will be able to participate and join the ride group.
Also, bicycle helmets are sufficient to the regulation. And have the advantages of low weight, good air circulation for cooling, as well as protection from the sun.

Does anyone find that their e-bike is outside of this definition?
